Salvation in Jesus Name
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18: 10
Text: Romans 10: 5-13
There is power in the name of Jesus Christ – power to save from sin, heal, and deliver from evil. It is clear from the Scriptures, that everyone that calls on the name of the Lord is saved (Romans 10: 11-13, Proverbs 18: 10, Joel 2: 32, Judges 9: 50-55). The name of Jesus is the only name given among humans whereby we may be saved – from sin, sickness, disease, and eternal destruction (Acts 4: 12).
Divine Guarantee: It’s clear from the Scriptures above, that God has given us a divine guarantee – all who call on Him will be saved, and will not be put to shame ( Romans 10: 13, Isaiah 28:16, Joel 2: 32).
Why the name of Jesus is so powerful: Philippians 2: 5-13 tells us clearly that God has exalted the name of Jesus above all other names, so that at His name every knee must bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord. He is the sinless Son of God who took away our sins. He is our Divine advocate, our eternal redeemer.
How to experience the power in Jesus' name:
Believe in your heart: Whether as a sinner coming to God for salvation, or as a believer coming to God for deliverance from some evil, the first step to releasing His divine power is to believe in your heart that Jesus is the Lord and that God has raised Him from the dead for our salvation (Romans 10: 9-10, 14; Psalm 91: 14-15). He that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a ‘rewarder’ of those who seek Him (Hebrews 11: 6). Trust in Jesus Christ as the Savor is the required first step towards salvation.
Call on His Name: Believing firmly in His ability to bring salvation is the first step, but it is also equally important to call out for help in His name. We believe with the heart, and we confess or call out to Him with our mouth (Romans 10: 9-10, Psalm 91: 15, Joel 2: 32, Jeremiah 33: 3, John 14: 13-14). Calling on His name for help and salvation in time of trouble is proof that we truly believe in Him (Peter’s example, Acts 14: 28-32). It’s time to call on His name, and watch every other name bow to Him.
